Motorhome Hire – A review of the Swift Edge 494

Swift Edge 486

Motorhome Hire – A Review of the Swift edge 494 View Our Motorhomes 4 Berth Motorhome The Swift Edge 494.  A fantastic, spacious motorhome with a comfortable fixed rear bed at the rear and an over cab double bed. We personally find that this motorhome really suits both younger families and anyone who just likes to not climb a bed but have the option for guests or storage on the over cab bed. Swift build this motorhome on the Fiat Ducato base which is available in Manual or Automatic.  Here at Luna Motorhome Hire our vehicle is Manual. The exterior design with the black is really quite nice and doesn’t make you look like a beacon of light. Comfort The Beds.  The rear double bed is awfully comfortable.  It faces to the side which is interesting as most rear fixed beds tend to face forwards into the vehicle. The positive to this are that when you wake up in the morning you are able to look out the window and look at the amazing view (if you’ve found one) Kitchen. The kitchen boasts a 3 burner hob with an oven and grill.  The great thing about this Swift motorhome is that it also comes with a microwave.  This does only work when hooked up to electric.  You have an under counter fridge with small freezer compartment and a sink. The washroom. A very nice washroom indeed.  What we like about this washroom is that it seems really well fitted out and gives you enough room to move around in there if you were looking to take a shower.  The tap turns into a shower. Seating. The forward lounge offers up enough space for up to 6 people to sit comfortably when the vehicle is parked up.  The front seats swivel around to face the interior of the motorhome which can be quite comfortable if you lean back and stick your feet up on the other seats…. (just keep your socks on)  A table offers enough space to eat your breakfast on. Storage. The interior storage is ample for 4 people to holiday comfortably.  There is some storage above and around the bed, a bit of cupboard space over the lounge and a wardrobe.  The garage area is minimal but you are able to store some levelling blocks in there and a few fold away chairs.  The rear bed so raise at the bottom to allow access to some more (small) storage and the boiler. Final thoughts This motorhome is perfect for 4. The floor space available is great and we don’t feel like you would be pushing past each other to get to the other end of the motorhome.  The kitchen is a really great feature of the motorhome and the fixed rear bed is just brilliant.  Both beds are really nice and comfy and interior design is simple yet attractive. A great motorhome to hire or buy. If you are looking to hire one, why not check out our prices over on our booking page. If you are looking to buy one of these great vehicles, we recommend Alan Kerr Ltd who are based down in Paignton.

Campervan Hire – A review of the Weinsberg 540 MQ

Campervan Hire – A Review of the Weinsberg 540MQ View Our Motorhomes Lets talk campervan When it comes to campervan’s this particular one has been built with style in mind whilst trying to fit in everything it possibly can without compromising the experience of travelling in a compact campervan. As you enter the campervan the first thing you see is the quality and design of the interior build.  Its clever deign enables you to store oodles of things.  You can easily commit to a week in this vehicle as a couple or family.  With 2 double beds to choose from you can decide whether you want to sleep up in the roof or down on the double bed below. Comfort The Beds.  Having slept on the rear double bed we found that the sleeping area was big enough for 2 adults.  being above 5ft 10 you may find that you wish to sleep in the pop up roof as this space offers a longer double sized bed. The mattresses are firm yet comfortable. Kitchen. The kitchen provides a 2 burner hob and a sink located just on the inside of the side door.  There is a fridge powered by electric only, so make sure you have hook up wherever you are going. The washroom. Now, this isn’t the biggest washroom, however it serves its purpose.  The toilet comfortably sits most humans whilst the shower offers plenty of room for a rub down and rinse, however bending over is probably a no no. Its well designed.  Plenty of cubby holes and places to store things which you would not expect. Seating. The seating area is compact so we would recommend taking some outdoor seating, however, when inside the vehicle, the forward facing seats in the rear are comfortable and the front drivers seat and passenger seat swivel round for a socially acceptable dining area. Storage. Plenty of cupboard space if you pack neatly and the space under the rear bed (which can also be hitched up) offers enough room for you to store a number of bags if required. Final thoughts This campervan has everything you would expect and more. Its perfect for long weekends and for trips up to a week long if you are travelling as a foursome.  We believe that if you are taking a longer trip, it would be wise for no more than a couple to stay in the vehicle as you may find you are tripping over each other. Overall, totally recommend taking this campervan hire throughout the UK or into Europe.

NC500 Motorhome Hire

campervan hire for the NC500

The NC500 and Motorhome Hire View Our Motorhomes The NC500 – The ultimate road trip What a way to explore Scotland than to do it in one of our motorhomes and campervans along the NC500. The NC500 has been voted as one of the best coastal routes in the world to drive which has 516 miles of amazing scenery from coastal roads to rugged paths along the highlands of Scotland. By travelling the NC500 you really will make some amazing memories and find scenery you literally won’t appreciate anywhere else on earth. We absolutely recommend visiting the NC500 for this once in a lifetime trip.  Below you will find some great advice on on how to enjoy the trip and keep this route clean and safe for others to use. Important Advice Please note that as a hire company it is important for you to help us keep this route great for all including the people that live along the NC500. Driving on single track roads and country roads. If you feel you cannot reverse the vehicle properly and safely, take the alternative routes for motorhomes. Please do not attempt to drive the Bealach Na Ba (take the A832) or B869 Drumbeg Road (take the A894) as these are seriously small roads. Also, if you are driving below a reasonable pace, please allow others to overtake you every now an again by pulling into a layby. Do not travel in convoy if you are travelling in a party.   Overnight Parking Overnight parking in motorhomes or campervans in not allowed on public land.  The term ‘wild camping’ is only legally described as ‘when camping on foot’ and therefore does not apply to anyone in a motorhome or campervan. We urge you to plan your route and book into campsites.  We recommend you do this sooner rather than later as you could possibly end up with nowhere to stay. There is a handy interactive map HERE if you wish to view the campsites available. The only spaces that we are aware of that you can legally park up overnight that are not campsites are mentioned below; Nigg Ferry Hotel Carpark Balintore Harbour Carpark Lochinver Leisure Centre Carpark Falls of Shin Carpark Balnakeil Motorhome Stopover Stoer Lighthouse Sheigra Beach Honor Campsite Loch Clash Kinlochbervie (Harbour) Noss Head (Farmers Field) You may find there will be a small charge or donation to use these spaces. A specific guide to common sense We have spent hours having discussions with local people along the NC500 and here is what we have come up with; Don’t park on land that may be owned by someone.  If in doubt, as someone.  If you can’t find out, do not park there as you may be blocking access, or illegally parking. Do not leave rubbish behind of any sort. Its your responsibility to clean up after yourself. Do not use a disposable BBQ or use a BBQ where there is the likelihood of anything catching fire. Do not dispose of toilet waste anywhere along the route unless at a designated spot.  Please see more information below or where you can empty the toilet cassette. Don’t park in layby’s overnight and restrict your daytime use. Waste disposal There are a number of places we would recommend to dispose of your waste. There is an interactive map on the Campa.org.uk website for you to view and plan your route. Also, here are some mentionable places for you to do so. Free for staying guests, charge applies for passing visitors: Black Rock Campsite, Evanton (chemical waste and grey water) Beauly Holiday Park, Beauly Inver Caravan Park, Dunbeath Ferry View Night Stop, Gills Bay Dornoch Caravan & Camping Park, Dornoch Halladale Inn & North Coast Touring Park, Thurso Waste disposal facilities for staying guests only: Fortrose Bay Campsite, Fortrose Port A Bhaigh Campsite, Achiltibuie Gruinard Bay Campsite, Laide Dornoch Firth Caravan Park, Tain Shore Caravan Park, Lochinver Wick Caravan and Camping Park, Wick

Can I hire a campervan to go to Europe

campervan hire to go to europe

Can I hire a motorhome to go to Europe? View Our Motorhomes Hire a motorhome to go to Europe It can be done! Yes, you do not have to fly on a plane to go to Europe. What better way to explore Europe than in a motorhome and With Luna Motorhome Hire, you can hire the perfect campervan for your trip. Below, we have a step by step guide as to what we think you should consider when you are looking to book a campervan to travel into Europe. Size of the motorhome Whether there are 2 of you or 6 of your, once thing you do not need to worry about is the crossing via Eurotunnel or via Ferry. There is plenty of room for you and these forms of transport are designed for larger vehicles such as motorhomes.  The ferry may be a little cheaper but Eurotunnel is faster and more frequent.  Luna Motorhome Hire recommends going via the Eurotunnel for ease and speed. And if you get sea sick, there is no questions as to the choice you should make! Luna Motorhome Hire requires a minimum of 7 night hire when travelling to Europe and depending on how long you are looking to travel for, we would always recommend looking for a motorhome with some decent storage space.  If you are looking at a 2 berth campervan for example, this would be great if you are happy to store your clothes in the over head cupboards or in the small wardrobe.  The great thing about the campervans is that they are super comfortable to drive.  A motorhome with garage space at the rear is always a good shout when travelling in larger groups for extended periods of time.  Garage space is what you may consider to be the boot of the motorhome.  Store all your gear back there. Where to go It really doesn’t matter where you travel to.  You will find some restrictions on insurance cover to certain European countries but the best thing to do is plan your route towards your main destination, plan a couple of stop overs for the journey there at campsites.  For this we would recommend Pitchup.com as they have a number of European sites listed to book on their website. We absolutely recommend having at least one site booked when you are close to your main destination, even if its for a couple of days just so you can get your bearings. What to take A good Sat Nav is a must.  Some motorhomes have them already but its likely you will be able to hire one when you book your campervan hire.  You can use Waze or Google maps for example, but please remember that these sat nav’s will not allow for larger dimensions of a vehicle and you may find yourself getting a little stuck when you come off the main roads.   Gas – Make sure you take Gas with you, especially if you are planning on a relatively long trip.  Heating and hot water in all motorhomes will work off Electric too, however Gas power is a more economical and powerful way to use the heating and hot water.  Gas will also power the fridge if you are unable to hook up anywhere. Outdoor Furniture – A must when travelling anywhere in a motorhome Water – Always prepare and take plenty of drinking water with you. French Law – French law requires you to have proof of ownership when driving so you will require the to take the rental documents with you proving that you are in a hired vehicle.  You will also require proof of insurance, so you must take a copy of the policy for the hired vehicle with you.  You must take your UK driving license.  Do not forget you will need to take headlamp beam deflectors to prevent you from blinding other drivers and you must have a ‘UK’ sticker on the vehicle. Insurance and Breakdown Cover Many motorhome hire companies provide insurance for Europe at an additional cost.  European breakdown cover should also be included but it is a good idea for you to get this checked before you hire your campervan. The main thing to do is to relax, and enjoy the scenery, take your camera and make some amazing memories.

Peak District holiday spot recommended by Luna Motorhome Hire

campervan hire in the peak district

Visit the Peak District in your motorhome this year View Our Motorhomes Ashford In The Water I’s not just us that thinks this gorgeous village in the Peak District deserves a mention but a number of other well known websites too. Sheepwash bridge is a well known location within Ashford in the Water and its been named by the national trust as the best place in the country to play Poohsticks. Staycations have become so much more popular as a result of Covid-19 and people are travelling more to the UK beauty spots Places to eat If you are thinking of spending the day in this gorgeous location, the village has lots of choice.  A hotel/restaurant, two pubs and a tea room provides a great choice whilst walking around. Walking/Cycling There is plenty of walking and a great cycling route on the Monsal Trail which is traffic free and seems to go on forever.  Monsal Head is a great place to visit with amazing views that will simply take your breath away. Close by In less than a mile you will also find Thornbridge Hall, a grade 2 listed stately home. Chatsworth house and Chatsworth gardens are also within 5 miles from the village which means if you’re serious about cycling, these make great points to head to. Places to stay A couple of good motorhome and caravan sites are available close by.  With some good google reviews, Greenhills Touring and Camping Park seems to be a great choice.  Also close by is Park House Camping which has some great views of Monsal Head.

Four hot destinations in the UK in 2022

Four places you can visit in your motorhome this year View Our Motorhomes 2022 up and coming UK destinations Just when we thought that it was time to hop onto a plane and get some sun from those sunny destinations once again, a lot of people have decided that actually, lets stay at home or hire a motorhome to travel into Europe.  More about that later, but here are four of our top picks for up and coming destinations to explore in a motorhome in 2022. 1. Lincolnshire Last year a beautiful town called Stamford was voted one of the best places to live in England by the Sunday Times.  If you decide to visit here, you would find an abundance of listed buildings. 600 to be precise and the market town has plenty to keep you busy.  Last year the county saw a 75% increase in interest.  With a cathedral, gorgeous stately homes including Harlaxton Manor and two castles, it proved to daw in the crowds. 2. Bracknell Forest For those travelling along the M4 corridor for any reason, one place to stop would be Bracknell Forest. Home to Windsor castle and the Great Park, its a great stop for some fresh air if you are staying locally or heading away from London.  Last year, Bracknell Forest saw over 100% increase in footfall. 3. South-End-On-Sea Did you know that South End pier in the longest pier in the world?  If that’s not a reason to visit then the child friendly coastal town of South-end-on-sea also has a Sealife aquarium and the Adventure Island fun park.  This area again, saw a 100% increase in visitors last year.  Whilst there, you could have a ride on the railway or walk along the 7 miles of beach. 4. Dundee There is nothing like a trip to Scotland, the scenery is simply out of this world. Dundee hit the tourism radar when they opened the V&A museum in 2018.  Interest in Dundee grew by 80% putting the coastal town on the map. Close to Dundee, you will find the beautiful country park of Monikie.   What are you waiting for! So, what is the plan for the new season? well, we have invested in more campervans this year which means smaller vehicles but still packed full of everything you will need to enjoy a motorhome/campervan holiday.  Realising how popular they were, we thought that this gap in the market was great for new and returning customers. Staycation Holidays: Landmarks That Will Inspire You To Visit Wales

campervan hire wales

Staycation Holidays: 5 Cultural Landmarks That Will Inspire You To Visit Wales View Our Motorhomes Looking at Campervan Hire to Wales? As of this writing, the entire UK is still in lockdown. Even though the Welsh government is looking into reopening their tourism sector by Easter, it’s not yet clear whether this will be for locals only or if they will allow leisure travel from England. While we wait for confirmation, why not check out some travel inspo? In this blog post, we enumerate five cultural Welsh landmarks that will inspire you to rent a campervan and visit Wales ASAP. #1: Llanbedrog, Llŷn Peninsula Llanbedrog is a picturesque village located in between the popular seaside resorts of Abersoch and Pwllheli. It’s the perfect destination for couples and families who want to unwind at the beach or those who love watersports such as windsurfing, kayaking, and sailing. Fun fact JRR Tolkien loved the Welsh language, and his fascination for its culture continued when he and his family went to Llanbedrog. #2: Cardiff Bay’s Norwegian Church Once the heart of the Norwegian community in Cardiff, the Norwegian Church is now a thriving arts centre and cafe. Here, you can view temporary exhibits featuring local artists and taste one of the cafe’s award-winning cakes. Fun fact The Norwegian Church was initially located in the Cardiff Docks since it catered to sailors from Norway. When it fell into disrepair in the 1970s, both Cardiff locals and those in Norway raised funds to dismantle and rebuild the Church in Cardiff Bay. #3: Llandudno If there’s one thing you should know about Llandudno, is that this Victorian seaside town is filled with sites inspired by the children’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Go down the rabbit hole and visit interesting landmarks such as the town hall found at the Heart’s Quarter, the Mostyn Gallery along the promenade, and Llandudno’s North Shore adjacent to the Spades Quarter. Wherever you visit, you will surely spot figures from the story. Fun fact Llandudno’s connection to the literary classic can be traced to Alice Pleasance Liddell, who spent many summers in this town. Her family were close friends with Charles Dodgson, who wrote under the pen name Lewis Carroll. It’s been speculated that Carroll’s opus was inspired by the little girl Liddell’s adventures. #4: Snowdonia National Park Snowdonia is the largest national park in the country. It has the highest mountain in England and Wales, the largest natural lake in the country, and is filled with picturesque villages. Its culture, natural beauty, and wildlife remain intact, making it the ideal destination for outdoor and history enthusiasts. Fun fact One of Snowdonia’s cultural figures is Ellis Evans, better known as Hedd Wynn, a soldier-poet. His last poem, Yr Arwr (The Hero), won the chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod. Sadly, he was not present at this festival as he was killed in battle six weeks prior. #5: Laugharne This sleepy, timeless little town has an interesting but turbulent past, though many of the tourists are there to pay tribute to the most famous Welsh poet and writer, Dylan Thomas. Explore the Laugharne Castle and discover the town’s history, or learn more about Dylan Thomas by visiting the boathouse where he spent the last four years of his life. Fun fact Fans of the literary arts head to this town every Spring to celebrate the Laugharne Weekend. This festival maintains its boundaries within the town itself and celebrates literature, music, and comedy.
