Cumbria

Cumbria is a county located at the very north of England along the Scottish border. Cumbria is home to the Lake District National Park, easily one of the most popular places to take a campervan hire in the UK. There are countless campsites in the Lake District, ranging from basic to glamping, so there is no shortage of places to spend the night. Within the Lake District, there is no shortage of things to see and do. There are charming historic towns and villages to explore like Hawkshead and Grasmere. There are also countless walks and hikes of varying difficulties. Helvellyn is the third highest mountain in England and to reach the top; you’ll cover almost 9km while gaining over 900m. For those who don’t want such a challenging hike, there are other walks like Catbells Lakeland Walk and Blea Tarn.

It wouldn’t be a visit to the lake district without spending some time on the water. Lake Windermere is the largest lake with lake cruises as well as private boat hires. At some of the smaller lakes, like Ullswater, you can try out water sports like wakeboarding or SUP boarding. There is also always the option to swim in one of the lakes or spend the day relaxing lakeside.

There is definitely no shortage of outdoor activities to partake in when visiting Cumbria and the Lake District.
