When you hire a campervan for a weekend, it typically includes all the essentials you need for a comfortable trip. Most campervan hire companies provide: A fully equipped kitchen area with a hob, fridge, and sink. Comfortable sleeping arrangements, often for two to four people or six people. This would usually involve seats that turn into beds or fixed beds depending on the layout. Heating and lighting for cosy evenings. Bathroom facilities such as toilet, shower and wash basin. Where Can you Park a Campervan Overnight in the UK?

Where can you park a campervan overnight in the UK View Our Motorhomes Travelling in your motorhome or campervan – Where to park up overnight Travelling across the UK in a campervan or motorhome is not just a mode of transportation; it’s a gateway to ultimate freedom and adventure. Campervans provide an unrivalled opportunity to explore the country at your own pace, offering the flexibility to adjust your plans if you feel like it and uncover hidden gems whenever inspiration strikes. A key factor to consider when planning your campervan adventure across the UK is where to park your vehicle overnight. Choosing the right spot can enhance your trip, offering safety, convenience, and often a touch of local charm. Whether it’s a quiet countryside layby, a coastal view, or a designated campervan site, the right parking choice adds another layer of enjoyment to your travel experience. Below, we talk about safety and resources to help make it easier for you. Overnight Parking Rules It is super important you check local guidelines for overnight parking as each area will be dependant on their own rules. Here are some ideas as to what campervan hire customers should be aware of when looking to park up overnight. Check Local Parking Restrictions: Before settling in for the night, ensure you are aware of any parking restrictions or rules in the area. Some locations may have specific regulations or time limits, and failing to note this and take action could result in fines. Be Considerate of Others: Wherever you park, always be mindful of the local community. Keep noise levels to a minimum, avoid disturbing your neighbours, and ensure no litter or waste is left behind. Please remember that no toilet waste should be emptied other than at an appropriate waste disposal. A respectful approach helps maintain positive relationships with locals and motorhome hire companies. Respect Private Property: If you wish to park on private land, always obtain the landowner’s permission beforehand. Be sure to adhere to any specific rules or guidelines they provide. Choose Safe and Secure Locations: Prioritise well-lit, secure areas for overnight stays and avoid isolated or potentially unsafe spots. Some car parks or designated motorhome areas can offer added security and peace of mind. Its also helpful if you see other motorhome users in the area. Follow the “Leave No Trace” Principle: When camping, especially in rural or natural settings, respect the environment by adhering to the “leave no trace” principle. Take all rubbish and waste with you and avoid causing any damage to the surroundings. The countryside is not a tip. It is there for us to all enjoy and basic principals should be adhered to. Where can you park in the UK overnight? Private Land It is possible to park on private land, however you must have the land owners permission to do so. Places like pub car parks are the most popular. Usually this will involve the landlord/landlady providing their permission in exchange for you eating and drinking in their pub before staying overnight. Public Car Parks Parking up in your motorhome hire overnight in a public car park is possible. If this is allowed, the car park will show the rules for doing so and will give a charge. Make sure you pay up front so that you are not caught out when trying to leave. These car parks are usually by beach fronts. Campsites The safest way to park up overnight in our opinion would be to stay at campsites. These are specific locations for you to not only park safely, but have other facilities such as water and electric hook up. They also have places for waste disposal. Wild Camping The term wild camping sounds like a lot of fun. Usually this involves staying on public land or in the countryside. There are very few places this is allowed and you must check that it is possible before setting up. Generally this is not allowed to please make sure you check before staying anywhere as it could result in a fine. Parking in residential areas Parking your campervan or motorhome in a residential area is not illegal, however it can be frowned upon due their their size. Some councils in places have bought in local by-laws that do not allow campervans to park there. This would usually be in a tourism attraction area so its worth checking the area locally before setting up for the night. Can you sleep in a motorhome on the road? Again, it is not illegal to park on the road and go to bed. The campervan or motorhome should not be causing an obstruction and should be in a place that is safe for other vehicles to pass. Where to find the best parking spots Searchforsites: We have recommended this before and regularly tell our customers to use it when they are embarking on their journey. This is a free resource but it is worth paying for the upgrade to get unlimited usage. Theis app and website has pub stops, campsites and free spots you can park up. Park4night: Another one we have recommended previously. This is a great free resource you can use on your mobile phone for picking out spots either whilst en-route or just as a last minute pick. Britstops: Britstops is a a resource that owners of farm shops, wineries, pubs and other excellent locations for you to stop at. It is not a free resource and you do have to pay for a yearly subscription, but if you are looking to hire a motorhome or campervan more than once a year, then this is a very good resource to have. Campercontact: This resource has over 50,000 motorhome sites and 3,500 of those are in the UK. Its a free resource but if you upgrade, you will be able to use it offline. They have an app you can download.

Wear something comfy: Arrive to Glastonbury in something comfortable. Be prepared to walk some distance on your arrival. Take ground sheets: To keep the inside of your campervan as clean as possible, it is an idea to take a ground sheet to leave your footwear outside the campervan which you can easily slide underneath to keep out of the elements. Pet Friendly Motorhome Hire View Our Motorhomes Pet-Friendly Motorhome Hire: Take Your Furry Friend on the Road For many of us, pets are a big part of the family, and leaving them behind when we go on holiday can be difficult and costly with kennel or dog sitters. At Luna Motorhome Hire, we believe that your four-legged friends deserve to enjoy the adventure just as much as you do! That’s why we offer pet-friendly motorhome hire, so you can bring your beloved pets along for the trip. Here’s how you and your pet can make the most of a motorhome holiday together. Why we offer pet friendly motorhome hire if you hire a pet-friendly motorhome for your travels, it allows flexibility, comfort, and a sense of togetherness. Leaving your best friend/mate behind sometimes cannot be an option. Here are just a few reasons why pet-friendly motorhome hire is ideal: Freedom and Flexibility: Having your pet with you means you don’t need to worry about boarding costs or finding someone to pet sit. With a motorhome, you’re free to travel at your own pace and make stops in scenic locations where you can streth and your pet can stretch your legs. Comfort for Your Pet: Unlike hotel stays, where rules can vary widely, a motorhome offers a familiar and contained environment for your pet. They can settle in, bringing along their bed, toys, and favorite blanket, making the journey less stressful. Access to Beautiful Locations: Motorhomes give you access to amazing locations, from forests and beaches to national parks. Many of these places welcome pets, and with a motorhome, you’re never far from the comforts of “home” if your pet needs a rest. Key tips for travelling with your pets; Pack all essentials needed – Just like you, your pet will need everything they have at home. Toys, bedding, food and any medication. Your pet (especially dogs) will be roaming much more than they are used to, being out in the open so its essential to make sure you have plenty of water accessible at all times. With our on board water tanks, there should be plenty of fresh water available for them. Don’t forget to plan stops – Motorway service stations are great places to stop but not always suitable for your dog to stretch their legs. Consider pulling off road every few hours to give them a break and maybe come off a motorway if you are travelling on it to give them a little extra running space. Remember to strap your dog in. Make sure you have a seatbelt harness to keep them safe. Also consider putting your pet into a crate to keep them safe and secure. Pet friendly destinations to explore; The UK is full of great places to stay with your pets. Plenty of campsites allow dogs on site. There are many beaches that allow dogs in the summer months but be sure to check which ones allow it so you are not fined. There are also many pubs that allow overnight stays and allow pets to sit in with you whilst you enjoy a few drinks and dinner. Worth checking out in advance as these tend to get booked up quite quickly. RESOURCES; Campsites.co.uk state that they offer over 2600 dog-friendly campsites Pitchup.co.uk have a full dedicated page to dog friendly campsites which show them on map form which is great for working out where to stay if you are heading somewhere in particular. Why choose Luna Motorhome Hire? For pet friendly motorhome hire we know that keeping your furry friend with you is important. We welcome customers in to most of our motorhomes who have pets there are one of 2 motorhomes that are not pet friendly just so that our customers with allergies can also enjoy our motorhomes but in general most of our fleet is available to our pet friendly guests.

Why have we chosen the Auto-Trail Expedtion 66 The Expedition comes in three models: the 66, featuring a two-berth, two-travel seat design, the Expedition 67, which offers a shorter rear lounge and a half-dinette with two extra travel seats and the Expedition 68 which has a large fixed rear bed over a large garage with an optional pop top roof. At Luna Motorhome Hire, we’re excited to offer the Expedition 66 with a manual gearbox. These layouts are reminiscent of the former Tribute Compact range, now rebranded as V-Line S, albeit with a more stripped-back spec. The Expedition 66 comes in white and Grey. Although the grey is an added option, we have chosen to go with the Grey cab and alloy wheels to add some style to it. The Expeditions are built on the 5.99m Fiat Ducato with a 3,500kg form, offering over half a tonne of payload on both models. Standard features include cab air-conditioning, a passenger airbag, and cruise control. We have also added Apple and Android Car play for your convenience. As a cost-effective model, the Expedition doesn’t feature a trendy overcab sunroof but does provide a practical overcab storage shelf. It retains the typical Ducato traits – smooth gear shifts, stable handling, and a somewhat plasticky cab interior. The ride is firm but surprisingly rattle-free, likely due to the minimalist interior. Despite its price, the Expedition includes height/tilt-adjustable cab seats, and notably, a 140bhp engine, rather than the entry-level 120bhp, ensuring spirited performance. The Expedition maintains the traditional rear lounge layout seen in the former Tribute 660 and current V-Line 610 SE. It boasts Grade III insulation, similar to other Auto-Trail campervans. The Expedition feels light and spacious, featuring pale woodwork akin to Chausson van conversions, a large rooflight over the rear seating, and automotive-style dark seat fabric with smart interior mouldings. The padded trim on the side walls and ceiling adds a touch of luxury. In winter, the 4.7kW gas/electric Whale heating should suffice. The end lounge is undoubtedly the highlight of the 66, featuring over 6ft long sofas. They’re a bit high for upright sitting unless you’re tall, but perfect for lounging. Reading lights, LED strips, and posh concertina-style blinds add to the appeal. The table, stored behind the driver’s seat, is well-sized for two, balancing space and functionality. A spacious lounge equals a large bed, nearly square at 1.85m. To convert the seating, pull the settee bases into the aisle and place backrest cushions in the middle. Simple crossbars replace built-in support legs. It’s a comfortable bed (or use the settees as singles). If you and your partner have different sleep schedules, the cab seats swivel, offering a secondary seating area when the rear is used as a bedroom. The passenger seat leaves you with dangling feet, and the driver’s seat rotates 90 degrees, but sitting with your feet up is quite relaxing, with the kitchen worktop flap nearby for convenience. The cab windows come with blinds for ease of use and for your convenience. Under the sofas, there’s ample storage, accessible from above or via the rear doors. The offside space houses the leisure battery and charger, but still has room for bedding, leaving the nearside space for outdoor gear. An oven might be unexpected in this budget spec, but it’s included, along with a combined grill and space for 2 x 3.7kg LPG Gas bottles. The kitchen features a two-burner hob with spark ignition, part of a Dometic unit with an integral sink. The galley includes a worktop extension, LED lighting, and a light on the back of the unit for outdoor evenings. There’s a cutlery drawer and decent cupboard space, though plumbing clutters the locker under the oven, and floor vents might draw in road dirt. Opposite, the galley is completed by an 85-litre Dometic fridge with a removable freezer section and push-button ignition for gas mode. Above, double doors reveal a small wardrobe suitable for shirts but not longer garments. Additional storage is found on the overcab shelf, in a slim drawer under the fridge, and top lockers above the galley and lounge.
